“A really nice little pub with character and comfy beds.”
27 Nov 2024
I really like the old yet modern feel to the place. The twin was nicely situated with the beds at a diagonal with plenty of space between to be able to have our stuff and get changed without disturbing each other. The food was really tasty with good portion sizes and a great selection of drinks. We could easily get into the Peaks without having to pay the tourist price for staying in the Peaks.

“Ashover is a pretty village and a very peaceful location. If you want peace & quite it’s lovely”

The staff were friendly. The hotel room was nice and comfortable with the added bonus of bottles of water. There was even a couple of bottles of their famous ale to try.

“Nice room in a natural, local inn, but had booking issues”
01 Sep 2024
Nice room in a natural, local inn with helpful staff. Our booking didn't seem to register properly on their system, but they trusted I'd pre-paid and offered us free breakfast in the morning to make up for the room confusion.

The old poets corner is my favourite place to stay

“Traditional pub offering comfortable accommodation, decent meals, wide selection of beers.”
01 Jun 2024
Old Poets Corner is a traditional pub at the edge of a handsome traditional village, and has a good range of local beer on tap. The staff are helpful and approachable. It's clearly popular with the locals, always a good sign. The bed was superb, the bedroom and pub interior somewhat lived-in though not unpleasantly so. Despite arriving after the kitchen had closed, the very obliging chef took pity on us and cooked up a very acceptable meal.

“Lovely old pub”

We loved the history of the place, beautiful surrounds, church bells singing in the background on a Sunday morning. Really nice little village. Staff were great. We are Australian and it was hard to understand us and vice versa which was quite funny. We stayed for one night which was a Saturday night, oops!. I really wanted a good night's sleep and didn't realise there was a band going to play until 11pm. We finally got to sleep and it was fine after that. I would recommend a stay for older people on a week night.
